Katherine Meyer Vanicek, DDS, MPH

Dr. Meyer is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Health Promotion at the Creighton University School of Dentistry. In an academic capacity, she is the course director for two courses that the dental students take in their 3rd year: Public Health Dentistry and Behavioral Science Aspects of Care. She also supports other courses via lectures in a variety of topics, including the Social Determinants of Health. In a clnical capacity, she supervises students in the dental school clinic, precepts 4th year dental students at an urban community healthcare clinic, and participates in community outreach activities that include oral health screenings and oral health promotion. Her scholarly interests include person-centered care, medical-dental integration, minimally invasive dentistry, interprofessional collaborative practice, cultural humility, health literacy, Limited English Proficiency (LEP), health behavior, and developing an oral health workforce that is prepared to provide equitable access to oral health care in the United States.

Presenting at CAB 2025:

This project addresses the critical shortage of accessible psychiatric-mental healthcare through development of a comprehensive interprofessional assessment tool. Created through systematic review, community engagement, and collaborative practice, the tool integrates social care and interprofessional healthcare teams to improve holistic service delivery for vulnerable populations at an urban community healthcare clinic.
