Dr. Allison Shorten is the Director of the Office of Interprofessional Curriculum (OIPC) at UAB, Professor, and Department Chair in the School of Nursing. Dr. Shorten has over 30 years of experience as an educator of nurses and healthcare professionals. She is an internationally recognized researcher in nursing, midwifery and healthcare services, fellow of the Australian College of Midwives, American Academy of Nursing, and Distinguished Fellow of National Academies of Practice. As Director of the Office of Interprofessional curriculum at UAB she is committed to creating partnerships and advancing the development of innovative interprofessional education.

We describe the implementation of a digital badging and interprofessional passport system to track students' progress in obtaining interprofessional competencies.
Our team developed an adaptive Interprofessional Family Tree, embedded into an IPE framework, to plan IP learning experiences across the academic institution. Using a family-based approach supports strategic development of IP student programs focused on achievement of IPEC competencies within the context of the social determinants of health.
