Amy Akerman, MPAS, PA-C, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is a full-time faculty member in the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant program. She leads their Dermatology-HEENT courses and the Foundations in Prevention, Advocacy, and Professional Practice courses. She leads the CHA/PA assessment program and is the Geriatrics and Global Health Tracks faculty advisor. She is also an assistant director of the CU Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education program on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. Amy is a PhD student in the Educational Leadership, Research, and Policy program at the University of Colorado- Colorado Springs campus.
Presenting at CAB 2025:
This presentation describes an innovative and replicable opportunity to incorporate naloxone training into interprofessional education curricula. The impact of these trainings includes improved knowledge, clinical skill acquisition, and appreciation of interprofessional collaboration as a means of addressing key ethics and health equity challenges of the opioid epidemic.
