Shawna Smith, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a health services researcher with a background in sociology. Her work focuses on implementing evidence-based healthcare practices to bridge access gaps and developing adaptive interventions for efficient care delivery. She also advances innovative trial designs, including factorial designs and SMARTs. Shawna completed her PhD in Sociology at Indiana University and was previously a Research Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at U-M Medical School, where she retains a secondary appointment. Her research is funded by NIH, AHRQ, and others.

This presentation demonstrates an implementation science approach to delivering an educational program focused on interprofessional education (IPE) and collaboration (IPC). By applying frameworks such as CFIR and ERIC, we illustrate how structured implementation strategies are used to enhance teamwork and improve patient and workforce outcomes, effectively evaluating program adoption and impact.
