Anna Lama, Ed.D., M.A., is an Assistant Professor and Director of Assessment at West Virginia University School of Medicine, specializing in teaching and assessment in medical education. With 23 years of experience across diverse educational settings, she directs the Medical Students as Educators (MSaE) rotation, offering longitudinal and virtual teaching electives for fourth-year medical students. She pioneered the IPE Medical Student Teacher Pipeline program, fostering future healthcare educators. Dr. Lama’s interests include medical student education, professional development, and curricular innovation. A co-editor for the Harvard Macy Institute’s “MedEd Pearls” blog, she also holds leadership roles in national conferences.

This session discusses the value of layered learning through training interested students to be facilitators for large-scale IPE activities. After this session, participants will be able to recognize opportunities for student facilitation, identify mentors for student facilitation collaboration, and describe benefits of students learning the principles of facilitation/debriefing.
