Dr. Becky Piazza is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida’s Department of Occupational Therapy. Dr. Piazza received the 2013 Florida Occupational Therapy Educational Consortium’s Outstanding Fieldwork Educator of the Year award, the 2014 Florida Occupational Therapy Association’s Award of Recognition, was granted board certification in physical rehab through AOTA in 2016 and received the 2019 University of Florida Occupational Therapy Sandra Edwards Colloquium Outstanding Clinical Contributions Award and the 2019 University of Florida Public Health and Health Professions Department of Occupational Therapy Outstanding Alumni Award. In 2025 Dr. Piazza was named a Distinguished Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Academy, part of the National Academies of Practice.
Presenting at CAB 2025:
This study examined OT student learning outcomes from an introductory longitudinal community-based IPE experience with other health professions learners and community volunteers. Results indicated students practiced several specific teamwork skills throughout the experience, and recognized how interprofessional teamwork and client-centered care will be skills to use in the future.
