Dr. Julia Shin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University. Her primary responsibilities include teaching in the foundational research courses, serving in the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Practice (CIPER) Assessment Committee, and co-directing the Culturally Effective Care (CEC) Lab. She is a board-certified occupational therapist in pediatrics with specialized training in community-based participatory research and health disparities research. Dr. Shin’s current research focuses on exploring how racial-ethnic minority families impacted by social determinants of health experience/navigate healthcare system and promoting culturally effective provider-client partnership in the context of pediatric rehabilitation.

The C-ICE 2. aligns with the 2023 IPEC Core Competencies to assess interprofessional team behaviors. This presentation highlights updates to the tool, reliability and validity testing results, and its implications for advancing interprofessional education.
This session highlights how international students and community stakeholders were integrated into a community-engaged research project aimed at improving healthcare access for rural families with children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It also discusses securing multiple funding sources and fostering professional growth of the students through collaborative leadership.
