Sonia Rocha-Sanchez is a professor and Associate Dean of Research at the Creighton University School of Dentistry. With over 20 years of experience in academic research, Dr. Rocha-Sanchez has published on various topics, from Population Genetics to Neuroscience to Social Sciences. Her current research focuses on Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and barriers to oral healthcare, particularly the intersection between oral and systemic health and the potential for interprofessional collaboration and practice.

In July 2023, the CUSOD established the After-Hours Clinic Program, where twice a week urgent care and primary care clinicians and dentists work alongside fourth-year dental students, oral maxillofacial surgery residents, and a Medicare Navigator to improve care for individuals who would otherwise seek help in emergency departments.
