  • Humanities and Social Sciences in Collaborative Practice
As the global population ages and the prevalence of chronic conditions and multimorbidity continues to rise, healthcare systems face increasing pressure to deliver coordinated, comprehensive, and patient-centered care. Effective collaboration across diverse healthcare professions is vital, as teams must leverage the expertise of various disciplines to navigate the complexities of patient care, workforce pressures, and shifts in service delivery, such as the growing role of digital health solutions. What are the critical areas for research to support and advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice?Session outline with active learning strategies: This workshop aims to assess progress and new opportunities for research in interprofessional collaboration with the goal of obtaining group consensus on critical areas for knowledge generation and implementation strategies to advance the field. Through a design-thinking approach, members of the Interprofessional Research.Global Research Agenda Task Force will engage participants in individual and group work to explore knowledge gaps, needs, as well as evaluation methods to inform a 5-year research agenda and strengthen collaborations to advance IPC research and drive meaningful progress in interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify and prioritize gaps, needs, challenges or emerging areas of IPECP research that hold the potential to drive substantial impact in healthcare delivery.
  • Determine evaluation approaches and strategies that accurately assess effectiveness of IPECP programs consistent with what they are designed to achieve.
  • Suggest innovative approaches to enhance funding access for cross-disciplinary collaborations that can enhance the scope and impact of research efforts.
