Ms. Shirley B. Smith has over 14 years of experience in medical education. As a faculty instructor and the Director of the Office of Student and Community Engagement in the Department of Medical Education at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, she monitors and recommends ways to enhance the cultural competency curriculum in the medicine, physician assistant, athletic training, and physical therapy programs at USF Morsani College of Medicine. Ms. Smith’s instructional responsibilities include overseeing the longitudinal curricular thread Humanism in Action, an assembly of content meant to strengthen cultural humility in healthcare professionals.
