Dr. Sharla King, Professor, Faculty of Education, University of Alberta. Dr. King is the Program Director for the Master of Health Sciences Education program, a graduate program for health professionals interested in enhancing their scholarship in teaching and learning. Dr. King has worked in the area of interprofessional education and research at the university for over 20 years. She is a former Board Chair for CIHC and previously co-chaired CAB conferences. Her research interests relate to interprofessional education and collaborative practice in pre-licensure and continuing education, blended and online learning.

Presenting at CAB 2025:

Health systems science (HSS) is the study of how health care is delivered. “Teaming,” a domain of HSS, recognizes the need for interprofessional teamwork. This workshop provides participants with knowledge about HSS and how to integrate its concepts into interprofessional education to support health professions learners’ to become “systems citizens.”
