Presenting at CAB 2025:
This workshop, hosted by IPR.Global, focuses on advancing knowledge and research in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP). Participants will explore the role of theory in research, engage in hands-on exercises in mixed-method research, and collaborate on strategies to evaluate IPECP outcomes, contributing to improved health, care, and equity outcomes globally.
IPE research should answer meaningful questions and utilize appropriate research designs and conceptual framing. The purpose of this session is to bring novice educational researchers to the next level based on individualized goals. Participants will build on their IPE research question of interest in a participatory workshop with research mentors that leads to a plan of action for each participant.
This workshop will explore critical areas for research to advance interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP) in healthcare. Participants will identify gaps, refresh evaluation approaches, and suggest innovative funding strategies. The session aims to shape a 5-year research agenda, fostering collaborative, actionable approaches for IPECP with the overall goal of improving healthcare delivery.
The presentation will discuss the development of the IPR.Global Summer Research Institute, informed by a needs assessment involving practitioners, researchers, educators, administrators, students, and community members with patient or caregiving experiences. Findings from the needs assessment and how they informed curriculum development will be presented.
This presentation explores the impact of healthcare payment models on interprofessional team-based care, focusing on the shift from fee-for-service to value-based models. It highlights how these models incentivize collaboration, improve patient outcomes, and promote sustainability. The session emphasizes payment reform as an investment in long-term health and equity.
This workshop explores strategies for systematic and longitudinal assessment and evaluation of IPE programs, focusing on learner outcomes, collaborative skills, and program effectiveness. Participants will engage in interactive activities to design robust assessment frameworks, enhancing their ability to evaluate and refine IPE curricula to meet accreditation standards and improve educational practices.
This workshop will build on findings from the Interprofessional Research.Global environmental scan, to focus on assessing interprofessional collaboration in practice. Participants will co-design a framework based on IPC competencies, identifying key data elements to assess practice activities, behaviors and environmental factors, which will also inform future IPC research.
This presentation explores the application of various learning theories in Interprofessional Education (IPE). Special emphasis is placed on constructivist and humanistic principles, which foster empathy, respect, and collaboration among healthcare professionals. The session highlights the importance of integrating multiple learning theories for developing effective IPE programs.
